Germanos’s Safe Drive Campaign took the Golden Award in PR Awards’ CSR category
GERMANOS Telecom România, part of COSMOTE Group, has been awarded the Golden Award for Excellence, on the "Social Responsibility and dialogue with the mutually interested groups" category, at the PT Awards, for the 2008 Safe Drive CR campaign “Hold your life in your own hands”, accomplished with longstanding communication agency V+O Communication.
“We thank the jury for the choice and we also thank the almost 100,000 Romanians who picked our information and educative materials and trusted us. Germanos is a human-oriented company, we provide communication tools and we have to make sure people make most of advantages from these tools. The Golden Awards for Social Responsibility honours us and stimulates us to keep up the good work”, says Adelina Păsat, Marketing Manager la Germanos Telecom România.
In 2008, Germanos wrapped up a national campaign to educate and inform drivers on the perils they expose themselves if calling while driving, not to mention the fact they commit a minor offence, resulting in a fine. Besides street information, with leaflets, Germanos representatives went in 19 driving school in 6 major cities to explain future drivers the importance of a hands free kit. The approach was most welcomed by the future drivers, at the time.
Following the 2008 nationwide success of the campaign “Hold your life in your own hands”, Germanos expanded the second edition to an upper level, partnering with the Romanian Police, the Circulation Department, thus boosting even more the impact of the message: use hands free kits when calling while driving, it’s safer and legal.
“We partnered with the Police aiming to contribute to the general effort to educate the drivers not only to observe the legal frame, which bans the mobile phones use at wheel, but more to make them aware that any source of distraction while driving may increase the chances for a crash. Using a hands free kit it’s about responsibility for yourself, your family, your colleagues of road traffic”, explained Adelina Păsat, Marketing Manager la Germanos Telecom România.
The 2009 edition of the “Hold your life in your own hands” started in June and is still in progress, with the precious help of the Romanian Police and the increasing attention from the drivers.
